Damian O’Connell, MD, PhD, is Chief Executive Officer of the Experimental Drug Development Centre (EDDC) at A*STAR, Singapore—a national platform for drug and biomarker discovery and early clinical development.
Previously, Damian served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Clinical Sciences at Bayer Pharma AG, and held senior roles at Pfizer, Parke Davis, Elan Pharmaceuticals, and Neurex. He began his industry career in 1998 after earning MD and PhD degrees from the National University of Ireland. Damian has held academic appointments at the University of Virginia and University College Cork, where he was Professor of Clinical Research.
He is an Adjunct Professor at University College Cork and serves on multiple advisory boards, including the Singapore Translational Cancer Consortium and SingHealth Investigational Medicine Unit. Damian is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Royal Academy of Medicine (Ireland) and an active member of leading pharmacology and clinical research societies worldwide.
